Sue Rutherford has been involved in owner builder construction since 1980 and designing homes and remodels in the Willamette Valley since 1995. After owner building a passive solar house she designed for her family in Virginia, she relocated to the Corvallis area in 1992. She has taken classes at OSU in housing studies to learn more about space planning, kitchen and bath design, and computer aided drawing. Sue also taught a green building class at Linn Benton Community College.

Sue has been actively involved in the remodeling of her home here in Oregon. This hands on experience with building gives her a practical base from which to design buildable solutions. As a mother and grandmother, she also understands the evolving needs of families as they grow and change. She also understands the needs of people as they age and can assist in creating accessible spaces to allow you to age in place. She brings a practical yet artistic perspective to the design of a home.

Sue has designed hundreds of projects for both new construction and remodels using various building techniques and products including conventional framing, insulated concrete forms (both styrofoam and faswal systems), and green building.

Design work includes:

- Many new custom homes both large and small in varying styles. Some passive solar incorporation.


- Hundreds of home remodels and additions ranging from simple to complex, including redesigning the facade, small bumpouts, master bedroom additions, accessibility improvements for aging in place, using the attic for more space, redesign of a kitchen, and whole house renovation.

- Assistance with variances, lot development ro historic commission approval.
